Workshop Facilities

Barwell Motorsport operates from a 5,500 sq ft modern workshop facility, based near Guildford in the heart of Surrey. It is only five miles from the M25, and is situated only approximately 25 miles away from both Gatwick and Heathrow airports, and 80 miles from Dover port. Our main workshop facilities include seven racing car preparation bays, a two-post car lift and offices on the ground floor, plus an engine/gearbox assembly clean room, a self-contained fabrication/machine shop, a meeting/trophy room and storage facilities/shelving on the upper mezzanine floor. The machine shop facilities include a lathe, milling machine, sheet metal folders, guillotines, tig, mig, and gas welding facilities, plasma cutter etc.

Barwell Motorsport's overall services include: complete racing team championship season projects and specific event projects; individual racing car building and preparation and trackside support and team services; bespoke design and fabrication - from oil tanks through to complete roll cage/shell prep and suspension design; engine and gearbox building (specialising in Hondas and historic Ford V8s); state-of-the-art chassis set-up; race car transportation and logistics; driver coaching and development.

Our race team vehicles include a Norfrig purpose-built 44ft 3-car race transporter including air-conditioned office, eight metre wide new Stegmaier awning, built in diesel generator and hydrovane compressor. We also run a 7.5 tonne support truck and Movano van, plus Dastle race box trailer and flat-bed car trailers.

On the personnel front, Barwell Motorsport is headed up by three Directors - Mark Lemmer (Managing), Chris Weeden (Engineering) and Chris Needell (Commercial). Chris Weeden's role is completely engineering and racing team-based, and he is our engine-building and fabrication 'guru'. We employ a dedicated and highly skilled mixture of both experienced and junior mechanics as full-time staff, and also have access to a highly motivated and experienced crew of people who fulfil crucial tasks at race events.

We have experience in running and preparing many different disciplines of racing cars, including Touring Cars, modern sports/GT cars, single-seaters, and historic sports-prototype and GT cars. Whilst retaining a completely independent and privately-run status, Barwell is currently one of the most versatile and successful racing teams in British motorsport.
