The Barwell Motorsport race team has a successful history of coaching, nurturing and developing young and inexperienced drivers. Amongst others, we were responsible for honing the talents of current BTCC stars, Tom Chilton (youngest ever race winner) and Luke Hines.
We don't just take on the responsibility of preparing our customers' cars, we also put a great deal of effort into improving their driving and their approach to race events. Managing Director, Mark Lemmer, is an extremely successful racing driver in his own right, and is a specialist in looking after our drivers and doing everything possible to help maximise their performance.
We have a wealth of experience and knowledge of the motor racing world as a whole, and are happy to pass that on to our drivers, as the more successful they are..the more successful we are as a team.
Our workshop facilities include an extensive machine shop and engine/gearbox building 'clean' room. We have carried out a range of bespoke fabrication work, including complete 'one-off' projects such as converting a Vauxhall Vectra front-wheel-drive 2.5 litre V6-powered racing car into a rear-wheel-drive 5.0 litre Ford V8-powered track day car! We were involved in every aspect of this particular job, including design, project management, fabrication, fitting, and engine building.
We provide aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel general fabrication services, and examples of our work include engine dry sump systems, long-distance fuel tank conversions, exhaust headers, pedal box systems, roll cages, brackets, engine mounts etc.
With regards to engine building, we are Honda and Ford V8 specialists, and have built successful competition engines to varying specifications for cars such as BTCC Honda Civics and Ford GT40. We also carry out work on many different types of both competition and road engines, and would be happy to evaluate any project.
We have a menu of services available to customers who own their own racing and competition cars, including transportation of cars and equipment to events and race event personnel support on different levels. This can range from supplying one mechanic to assist with the running of a car, up to the provision of a full racing team and pit equipment including an experienced Team Manager and Race Engineer.
We provide these services to customers in a variety of racing disciplines, and are Honda performance specialists. Our mainstream race team has been competing at a very high level with Honda products since 1999, and claimed the BTCC Production Class Drivers' and Teams' Championship titles in 2003 (with a Civic Type R). We have also represented Honda at the prestigious Spa 24 Hours event, and currently look after a fleet of Civics, Integras and Accords that compete in endurance events throughout the racing season.
We also offer stand-alone workshop services, usually charged on an hourly-rate basis, which include suspension and car set-up, general competition car preparation and maintenance, and bespoke work according to individual requirements. As well as working on existing vehicles, we have also been commissioned to build new racing cars to customers' specifications, from bare shell preparation right through to the finished ready-to-race product.
In addition to competition vehicles, we look after many different types of road cars, from fast 'hot hatches such as Honda Civic Type Rs to 'Supercars' such as Porsches etc. From routine maintenance to engine rebuilds and specific problem solving, we can offer a comprehensive service for both competition and performance road cars.
