Barwell Motorsport will fight on three fronts for this year’s British GT Championship title after confirming Alex Martin and Jarrod Waberski as the drivers for its third Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2.
The Surrey squad will launch its biggest British GT attack in almost two decades this year by fielding a trio of Huracan GT3s as it goes all-out to emulate the GT3 Teams’ and Drivers’ title double it last achieved in 2024. With Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin sharing the #55, and Rob Collard and Hugo Cook aboard the #63, the team is completed with the addition of Martin and Waberski aboard the Silver-Am #78 entry.
The car’s striking new design features backing from Dextra Group – DexNET Lighting Controls, D.A.W, T4 Intelligent Infrastructure and Dama Fortuna Premium Tequila.
The addition of Martin and Waberski brings even more firepower to an already potent Barwell entry, blending one of the most impressive amateur drivers across recent seasons with a rising star of the sport. With the car running in Silver-Am, Barwell will be fighting for every available British GT3 title this year.
Martin boasts a formidable British GT record. Since joining Barwell at the start of 2024 he has recorded four outright race wins – plus a top-score during the 2024 season finale at Brands Hatch – giving Martin more maximum scores across the last two seasons than any other amateur driver in the series. Second in the points alongside Sandy Mitchell in 2024, Martin was also fourth in the standings last term.
With Mitchell’s Lamborghini Squadra Corse commitments in IMSA preventing him from fulfilling a full British GT campaign this year, Barwell has recruited rising star Waberski to the team. The 20-year-old South African will make his British GT debut this year but has already shone on the international stage. Having been a multiple race-winner and finished runner-up in both the South African Formula Ford 1600 and GB4 Championship, he made the switch to GT racing last year. Jumping straight into the highest level of them all, the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, he lifted the Silver title at his first attempt in a Century Motorsport BMW M4, a result that included a win at Monza and a podium finish in the world-famous CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.
Waberski will now make the switch to the mid-engined Lamborghini, and together with Martin promises to be an entry to watch this season.
“I’m really excited about this year, and to be working with Jarrod. Everybody who’s been around him says he’s a great guy and super quick. I believe you can always keep improving, and I hope to learn some new things from him this season, same as I did with Sandy, who taught me so much. Vice versa, this will be my third season in the Lamborghini and I love delving into the technical and setup side of the racing, so perhaps I can teach Jarrod some things too. British GT for me feels like major unfinished business. We came so close to the title in 2024 and had the package to win it last season but some bad luck that went against us. I have no doubt the Huracan GT3 is still a winning package, especially in mixed conditions or the wet where so few cars come close. While race pace has usually always been strong with me, I’m keen to improve on my qualifying performances this season. I’m also really looking forward to going up against Rob [Collard] in the sister car again. He’s a good friend and a great driver, so we always have a good level of competition between us. Although we’re in Silver-Am, the outright title is still always the aim. We’ve seen Silver-Am crews in the overall fight before, and if we can put together a consistent campaign and stay clear of trouble, hopefully we can be right in the fight come the end of the year.”
“I’m delighted to be joining Barwell and Alex for this year, and making my British GT debut. Last year was my first in GT racing and it was a steep learning curve, but it was an amazing season with some incredible success. The BMW took a lot of adapting to after racing single-seaters, and I had to alter my driving technique quite a lot to suit it. After one test in the Lamborghini I felt right at home. Being mid-engined it feels that bit more natural to drive with the engine behind you and the dynamics and weight transfer were quite familiar. Obviously, following Sandy I’ve got some big boots to fill, but I’m absolutely confident I can get into the mix. Success in British GT is so often determined by the performance of the amateur driver, and Alex has proven himself as one of the top drivers in the championship. With him and Barwell behind me the aim has to be to fight for both the Silver-Am title, and the overall GT3 crown.”

You can never underestimate the competitiveness of a championship like British GT, but our goal is clear, to fight for the GT3 Drivers’ titles and the Teams’ championship, and we have every ingredient in place to do just that.”
